MCOCA Case: Naresh Baliyan Withdraws Petition; Arrested by Delhi Police

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Uttam Nagar, Naresh Baliyan, has withdrawn his petition filed in the Rouse Avenue Court. The petition had sought permission for Baliyan to sign documents to file his nomination for the Delhi Assembly elections.

Additionally, Baliyan requested the court’s approval to sign documents for opening a bank account.

Naresh Baliyan’s Bail Denied

Baliyan, who was arrested on December 4, 2023, in connection with the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case, had previously filed for bail.

On January 15, 2025, Special Judge Kaveri Baveja of the Rouse Avenue Court rejected his bail plea. Following this decision, Baliyan now has the option to approach the High Court for bail.

About MCOCA Case

Naresh Baliyan’s arrest stems from his alleged involvement in an extortion case. He was initially detained on November 30, 2023, in connection with the extortion charges. However, shortly after obtaining bail in this case, Baliyan was rearrested by the Delhi Police under the MCOCA, a law used to deal with organised crime.

The investigation reveals that Baliyan was allegedly involved in conversations with notorious gangster Kapil Sangwan in 2023. An FIR was lodged regarding the matter, which has led to his current detention.

Gangster Link

Kapil Sangwan, a notorious gangster with deep ties to criminal activities, currently resides in Britain, where he has been based for the past five years. Baliyan and Sangwan both hail from Najafgarh, Delhi. Sangwan is believed to be the mastermind behind several major criminal incidents, including the murder of Nafe Singh in Haryana and the murders of BJP leader Surendra Matiala and gangster Ballu Pehelwan.

As the investigation continues, Naresh Baliyan remains in custody, with his legal team considering further action to challenge the bail denial.
