In a significant development blending social justice with environmental preservation, MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh secured crucial relief for poor Scheduled Caste families residing near Chandebaba Talab in Garhi Chunauti (Sarojini Nagar), who were facing eviction under National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders.
Appearing before the NGT, Dr Singh successfully argued for the rights of families who have lived in the area for decades.
Following his intervention, the Tribunal passed a landmark order offering both immediate relief and a sustainable path forward.
Dr Singh described the decision as a dual victory, posting, “Justice isn’t just delivered in courtrooms – it must be lived on the ground.”
He expressed gratitude to the NGT and the government for their humane and balanced approach, which he said upholds both the environment and the dignity of the marginalised.
This judgment sets an important precedent in balancing ecological responsibility with the rights of long-term residents, ensuring that progress is inclusive and just.
