Delhi Police opposed Sameer Modi’s bail plea, urging the Saket Court to dismiss it immediately.
Sameer Modi appeared in court on September 19 after completing his one-day remand, which the judge extended for two days.
Modi’s lawyer opposed the remand extension, while the complainant’s lawyer requested that proceedings be conducted entirely in camera for privacy.
The court scheduled Modi’s bail hearing for September 22 to carefully examine all allegations and arguments presented by both parties.
Sameer Modi, brother of fugitive Lalit Modi, was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport while returning from London recently.
The FIR, registered September 10, 2025, followed a court order after the woman submitted allegations of rape and threats.
She alleged she had a seven-to-eight-year live-in relationship with Modi, who repeatedly raped her under false marriage pretences.
The complaint also accused Modi of fraud, intimidation and blackmail attempts, while his lawyer denies the allegations as entirely fabricated.
Earlier in August, Modi had filed a police complaint claiming the woman tried to extort ₹50 crore from him unlawfully.
Sameer Modi, 55, began as a trainee at Philip Morris, later joined the family business and launched Modi Care in 1996.
He has faced multiple controversies, including disputes over his father, KK Modi’s, assets worth approximately ₹11,000 crore, triggering family disagreements.
In 2004, Modi alleged assault by his mother’s security officer during a board meeting at Godfrey Phillips India company.
His mother, however, denies any such allegations, claiming the complaint was part of internal family disputes and misunderstandings.
Delhi Police emphasised the seriousness of allegations, the ongoing investigation and the need to protect the complainant while ensuring proper judicial process.
The court will decide on Modi’s bail and procedural matters after reviewing evidence, arguments and legal obligations on September 22.
