Young Couple From Prayagraj Committed Suicide, Bodies Found Near River

The community was left in a stir as the dead bodies of a young couple were found in a forest near Mansaita river in Prayagraj. The young couple of Bahria in Prayagraj reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves after cutting their wrist veins.

The couple is identified as  27-year-old Bhagirathi who hailed from Ghatampur village of Nawabganj in Prayagraj and a 17-year-old girl from the same village. They have been missing from their respective homes since Friday.

Last year, Bhagirathi and the teenage girl had eloped, inciting legal action. The girl’s family had filed a case against him at the Nawabganj police station. Subsequently, Bhagirathi was arrested. However, he was later released on bail.

The teenager’s family had continuously kept an eye on Bhagirathi.

The teenager had come to visit her aunt in Dhanbalpur a week before the tragic incident.

The Police have launched an investigation into the matter to find out the circumstances that led to their suicide. However, The police have also informed that Bhagirathi was released only a year ago.
