The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major stride toward strengthening the state’s public healthcare system by approving ₹9.80 crore for the modernisation of 14 district hospitals.
The decision aligns with the state’s long-term development roadmap under the ‘Viksit UP 2047’ vision, aiming to upgrade medical facilities, bridge healthcare gaps, and ensure timely treatment even in remote districts.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sanctioned the funds specifically for installing modern medical equipment and enhancing essential health services in districts that lack adequate diagnostic and advanced treatment facilities.
This move is expected to significantly benefit patients in rural and backward regions. It will help them access quality and affordable medical care despite previously limited infrastructure.
Officials believe the upgrades will also reduce the heavy patient load on super-speciality hospitals in major cities by enabling district hospitals to handle more complex cases.
The government allocated the sanctioned funds to 14 hospitals according to their infrastructure needs.
It assigned ₹2.70 crore to Ramsagar Mishra Joint Hospital in Sadhamau BKT, ₹1.52 crore to the District Women’s Hospital in Balrampur, and ₹1.56 crore to the District Hospital in Rae Bareli.
The government allotted ₹1.16 crore to the District Joint Hospital in Maharajganj.
It allocated ₹28.55 lakh to the District Joint Hospital in Baghpat and ₹3.35 lakh to Diwan Shatrughan Singh Joint Hospital in Hamirpur.
It also provided ₹8.68 lakh to the Women’s Hospital in Harraiya, Basti, and ₹38.96 lakh to Dr Bhimrao.
The government will primarily use the funds to procure advanced diagnostic machines, treatment equipment, and other essential healthcare infrastructure.
These upgrades are expected to significantly reduce waiting times for tests and accelerate the delivery of medical results once hospitals install them.
District hospitals will use improved diagnostic tools such as CT scan machines, X-ray units, and specialised testing equipment to enhance patient care.
These upgraded facilities will help doctors detect serious conditions, including cancer and cardiac issues, at an early stage.
The enhanced capabilities will reduce the need for patients to travel to larger medical centres for advanced diagnosis.
The Yogi government includes this initiative as a key component of its broader health policy to bring district-level facilities closer to WHO standards.
The government aims to elevate the overall health index of underserved regions by expanding access to modern healthcare services. It seeks to ensure that every district in Uttar Pradesh progresses equally on key health parameters.
