World Environment Day: PM Modi Calls For Sustainable Lifestyles Through Mission LiFE

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s resolve to advance environmental protection and sustainable growth.

Through a message shared on X, PM Modi highlighted the country’s continued efforts to promote ecological balance under the vision of ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Guided by the principle of ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’, we will continue working towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable planet through the spirit of Mission LiFE.”

In a video address, PM Modi highlighted India’s long-standing reverence for nature and said that Indians regard the Earth as a mother whose protection and preservation remain the responsibility of every generation.

Reflecting on this responsibility, the Prime Minister said, “Our ancestors fulfilled this responsibility, and it is our duty to do the same for future generations.”

The Prime Minister further highlighted the significance of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), describing it as a people-led movement aimed at promoting environmentally responsible behaviour.

PM Modi urged individuals to reconsider excessive consumption and adopt more sustainable habits, stating, “We need to move away from consumption-oriented thinking and the ‘use-and-throw’ mindset, which is harmful to the planet. The extent of our consumption should not be determined by our purchasing power, but by our actual needs.”

PM Modi pointed out that environmental degradation has contributed to numerous natural crises around the world. He also cautioned that failure to respect nature could result in more severe consequences in the future.

Reiterating the need for collective action, the Prime Minister added, “Protecting our planet and preserving the Earth is our collective responsibility.”
