Women Key To India’s Growth And Democracy, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that the strength of India lies in its women, noting that mothers, sisters, and daughters are contributing significantly to the nation’s growth and elevating the pride of Bharatvarsha in diverse fields.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Our feminine power is the hallmark of a strong India. The mothers, sisters, and daughters of the nation are enhancing the pride of Bharatvarsha in every field today with their unbreakable resolve, devotion, and spirit of service.”

“May She, who by Her own power created this universe, embodied as the collective form of the powers of all the gods without exception, worshipped by all the gods and great sages alike, whom we bow to in devotion, may She bestow auspiciousness upon us,” the post read.

The Prime Minister also posted a Sanskrit verse in honour of Goddess Ambika, seeking blessings for the country’s prosperity and well-being.

While addressing the Lok Sabha during a special three-day session, PM Modi firmly supported the women’s reservation legislation. He cautioned that those who had previously resisted granting rights to women often faced electoral setbacks, reinforcing the importance of inclusive governance.

The Prime Minister stated that the proposed legislation would alter the ‘disha and dasha’ (direction and condition) of Indian politics by ensuring greater representation of women in decision-making roles.

Emphasising its significance, PM Modi said it would contribute to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

“We are privileged that we have an opportunity to give a new direction to the nation’s politics and strengthen democracy,” he said, while urging political parties to approach the issue without partisan bias.

Parliamentary Proceedings and Next Steps

The Lok Sabha will vote on important bills concerning women’s reservation and the creation of a delimitation commission.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that discussions would continue for extended hours, and Speaker Om Birla indicated that ample time would be provided for all members to express their views before voting.

The Prime Minister’s statements, along with the ongoing legislative developments, mark a significant move towards increasing women’s representation in governance, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting inclusive national development.
