A disturbing incident occurred in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday, where a woman was allegedly raped on a busy road. The incident came to light after a video surfaced on social media, prompting swift action from the police.
According to officials, the police responded promptly and registered a complaint based on the victim’s statement. The accused was subsequently arrested after a search operation.
The police reported that the victim and the accused had met near a liquor shop, consumed alcohol together, and the accused took advantage of the victim’s intoxicated state to overpower and assault her.

Chief Superintendent of Police Omprakash Mishra confirmed the incident and the arrest, stating that the police acted swiftly after the video surfaced online.
The incident has raised concerns about women’s safety in Ujjain, particularly in light of the Chief Minister’s recent presence in the city. Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari criticized the state’s law and order situation, sharing the video and questioning the safety of women even in busy areas.
