Will Leave No Stone Unturned For Women’s Representation: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Samajwadi Party and the Congress of obstructing the passage of the women’s reservation proposal in Parliament. He reaffirmed his determination to implement it and assured women that he would ‘leave no stone unturned’ to secure their rightful representation in legislatures.

The Prime Minister began his speech in Varanasi by greeting prominent leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP President Nitin Nabin, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary and BJP leader Poonam Maurya, setting the tone for an event marked by significant participation of women.

Spiritual Significance of Kashi

While speaking at the gathering, PM Modi underlined the spiritual essence of Kashi, stating that the city is blessed by divine powers such as Maa Shringar Gauri, Maa Annapurna, Maa Vishalakshi and Maa Ganga. He noted that the large presence of women had made the occasion more sacred and conveyed his greetings to all mothers, sisters and daughters in attendance.

The Prime Minister pointed out that connectivity between Kashi and Ayodhya has improved considerably in recent times. He stated that authorities have introduced two Amrit Bharat trains, strengthening rail links and offering modern travel options for people travelling from cities such as Mumbai and Pune, as well as across Maharashtra, to Ayodhya and Varanasi.

PM Modi described the initiative as an auspicious beginning and extended his congratulations to citizens across the country.

Emphasising the significance of women in shaping the nation, the Prime Minister said that ‘Nari Shakti’ represents the strongest foundation for building a developed India. He added that his visit aimed to seek blessings from women as he pursues a major national objective.

”As the Member of Parliament from Kashi and as the Prime Minister of the country, I seek your blessings to achieve a major national goal,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the Women’s Reservation Bill did not pass earlier due to opposition from certain parties. He further assured the gathering that he would take all necessary steps to ensure that women receive their rightful share in legislative bodies.

The Prime Minister stated that empowering women leads to stronger families, which in turn contributes to the development of society and the nation.

Acknowledging Past Challenges

Reflecting on earlier challenges, PM Modi observed that women, including those in Kashi, have faced several hardships over the years.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple projects worth around ₹6,350 crore in Varanasi, aimed at enhancing infrastructure, improving connectivity and strengthening public services in the region.
