Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start his Wednesday schedule with a visit to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, where he will perform religious rituals before proceeding to Hardoi for the Ganga Expressway inauguration. He will conduct darshan and pooja at approximately 8:30 AM.
Following the temple visit, PM Modi will travel to Hardoi to formally inaugurate the expressway at around 11:30 AM and address a public gathering. The inauguration of the Ganga Expressway will mark a key achievement in the country’s push towards world-class infrastructure development.
The expressway stretches 594 kilometres as a six-lane, access-controlled greenfield highway, with provisions for expansion to eight lanes.
Authorities have constructed the project at an estimated cost of ₹36,230 crore.
The corridor runs through 12 districts, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj, linking western, central and eastern Uttar Pradesh through a continuous high-speed route.
The expressway will reduce travel duration between Meerut and Prayagraj from 10–12 hours to nearly six hours, making movement quicker and more efficient.
The project incorporates a 3.5-kilometre emergency landing strip in Shahjahanpur district, enabling dual use for civilian and defence purposes and adding strategic value.
Authorities have designed the expressway as a major economic corridor, with integrated manufacturing and logistics hubs planned across approximately 2,635 hectares along its alignment. This development will cut logistics costs, improve supply chain efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of manufacturing sectors.
Improved road connectivity will help farmers access urban and international markets more easily, enabling better price realisation and strengthening rural incomes.
The project will also stimulate tourism, create new business opportunities and generate employment across the region.
The Ganga Expressway will become a vital component of Uttar Pradesh’s expanding expressway grid, connecting with routes such as the Agra–Lucknow Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway and Farrukhabad Link Expressway, along with a proposed extension from Meerut to Haridwar.
This growing network will enhance high-speed connectivity throughout the state, linking different regions and encouraging balanced economic development.
The Ganga Expressway also represents a transformative initiative that will improve connectivity, attract investments, generate jobs and drive comprehensive economic growth across Uttar Pradesh.
