WHO Chief Hails PM Modi’s Support For Historic Pandemic Agreement

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for joining the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) virtually. The session marked the adoption of the world’s first Pandemic Agreement.

All WHO member states approved the agreement on Tuesday. It aims to boost global cooperation and ensure a fair and strong response to future pandemics.

“Namaste, Prime Minister @narendramodi, for joining us virtually at a historic #WHA78 when the #PandemicAccord was adopted. We are grateful for #India’s commitment and support to @WHO,” Tedros posted on X.

Modi Highlights India’s Global Health Role

In his video message, PM Modi called for inclusion, collaboration, and a shared vision to build a healthier world.

He said India offers models that are easy to replicate, scale, and sustain. These models can help the Global South face health challenges.

Modi added that the WHA theme ‘One World for Health’ matches India’s vision for global health.
