A tragic incident struck the Nabi Karim area of Delhi on Friday morning when a wall of the Khwaja Baqi Billah Dargah collapsed due to continuous heavy rains, resulting in one fatality and injuries to five others.
The collapse occurred around 7:00 a.m. near Old Delhi. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise that led nearby residents to the scene, where they found several individuals trapped under the debris. Rescue teams found one victim, who had been trapped, and despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead. The injured are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals.

Initial rescue efforts by residents managed to free two individuals before emergency services arrived. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) quickly dispatched three fire tenders to the site after receiving a call to emergency services. Rescue teams, including the police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), are actively searching for any additional individuals trapped under the rubble.
The victims were reportedly sleeping near the wall when the collapse occurred, likely exacerbated by the heavy rainfall overnight. Delhi has been grappling with severe weather conditions, leading to widespread waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and structural collapses across the region. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the next 24 hours, forecasting further severe weather in the national capital.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and safe as the city continues to deal with the impacts of the heavy rains.
