Violent Protests Erupt In Jaynagar Over Alleged Rape And Murder Of Minor Girl

On Saturday, violent protests erupted in Jaynagar over the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl, whose body authorities discovered in a canal shortly after midnight.

Local residents gathered outside the Jaynagar Police Station, accusing law enforcement of ignoring early warnings from the victim’s parents, who reported their daughter missing on Friday evening. The girl, a resident of the Kipakhali area under Kultali Police Station, had gone to a private tutorial home that afternoon.

Her parents claim that the police dismissed their report and allege that prompt action by authorities could have prevented the tragedy. They also stated that investigators only began their work after officers recovered the body.

The victim’s body reportedly showed multiple injury marks. Police have arrested a local youth based on CCTV footage that captured him with the girl prior to her disappearance.

As protests further intensified throughout Saturday, demonstrators accused police of negligence. The situation escalated, prompting protesters to attack the police station, ransack a nearby police camp, and set it on fire. Law enforcement responded with lathi charges to disperse the angry crowd.

Authorities deployed additional police forces to the area as clashes between protesters and officers continued, creating an atmosphere of tension around the Jaynagar Police Station.

A senior district police official further confirm that officers arrest one suspect in connection with the case and are actively investigating whether others involved.

“The body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem. Our priority is to restore order in the area,” he stated.
