Violence Sparks In Haldwani As Team Of Municipal Corporation Demolishes Illegal ‘Madrasa’ And ‘Namaz Place’

Haldwani Violence: Uttarakhand government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously running bulldozers on illegal construction. In this same line of action, the government’s bulldozer roared in Haldwani on Thursday. During this time, the Municipal Corporation team, in the presence of the state police, demolished the illegal ‘Madrasa’(an institution of higher education in the Islamic sciences) and ‘Namaz place’ built in Malik Bagh by running a bulldozer. Local people got enraged and started violence after the demolition.

Surrounded the police station and set fire to vehicles

The enraged people first pelted stones at the police administration and later surrounded the Banbhoolpura police station, pelted stones and set many vehicles on fire. The miscreants also set an electrical transformer on fire. Many policemen including an SDM got injured in this violence.

CM called high-level meeting to look into Haldwani violence

In view of the situation, a large number of police forces have been deployed on the spot, along with this, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has called a high-level meeting to maintain law and order. Seeing the situation worsening, the police open fired in the air. Forces from many police stations have been called to the spot.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued orders in the meeting to deal strictly with the unruly conditions. CM has said that those spreading anarchy should be dealt with strictly. Considering the circumstances, the DM has imposed Section 144 in the district. State DGP, Chief Secretary and Intelligence officers are present in the high level meeting with the CM.

The team had arrived to demolish the illegal madrassa

Municipal Corporation team had arrived along with the police team to demolish the illegal construction in Malik Bagh. As soon as the work of demolishing the Madrasa with JCB started, the youth of the Muslim community started creating ruckus. After which a crowd gathered at the spot and started pelting stones.

Seeing the situation escalating, the police also fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Reporting the incident, Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Upadhyay said that the Madrasa and the place of Namaz is completely illegal, about 3 acres of land near it had already been captured by the Corporation. Now the site of the illegal institution has been completely sealed. Unruly elements are being identified and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
