Venkata Dinesh Kumar, Man Who Tricked Air Passengers Into Buying His Flight Tickets Is Arrested

Venkata Dinesh Kumar, a well-known cheater who used to defraud good-hearted passengers is detained at IGI Airport. He would miss flights and steal money from passengers.

Incidents by Venkata Dinesh Kumar

(1) On April 6, 2023, at around 04:40 hrs., a traveller, specifically Mr. Akshat Palsania, going from Delhi to Indore on Vistara Carriers Flight No. UK913, complained to the airport security staff (CISF) about a suspicious passenger who claimed he had missed his flight and needed money to get a new one. According to the information gathered through the review of CCTV footage, the suspected passengers were intercepted at Gate No. 29 and recognised as Mr. Modela Venkata Dinesh Kumar, who had shown up from Vijayawada via Air India Carriers Flight No. 468/STA 23:40 Hrs on April 5, 2023, and was further expected to go to Mumbai by Flight No. 887/STD 07:00 Hrs, who was going on the name of Mr. Krishna Raju and recently associated with a few con cases with comparable business as usual.

(2) On December 12, 2022, another complainant named Mr. Ramana Venkata S. was travelling on Air Asia flight No. 15 766 from T-3 at Delhi’s IGI Airport. As he made his way towards Gate No. 42C, he was stopped near Gate No. as he prepared to board the plane by a man claiming to be Mr. Dinesh Kumar and claiming to be a student at Lovely Professional University. 20- 30. He informed the complainant that he missed the flight to Vijayawada due to his mother’s illness.

Dinesh needed more cash to rebook a ticket for his trip to Vijayawada, however, and was expected to go there to take care of his debilitated mother. He said his dad’s cell phone is turned off, and he has no other contacts to look to for help. The complainant, believing his version, transferred Rs. 9,500 to his account. From there on, the blamed neither answered via phone nor returned how much the complainant.

ARREST AND INTERROGATION:

Due to the sensitive nature of the situation and the need to locate the alleged team, which included SI Mukesh Kumar and HC Hawa Singh and was led by Insp. Yashpal Singh, SHO/IGI Airport, with Sh. The organisation Virender Mor, ACP/Airport, was formed. Modela Venkata Dinesh Kumar was taken into custody by a team led by CISF Security Staff on April 6, 2023, at IGI Airport in New Delhi.

It was discovered during extended questioning of the accused that Modela Venkata Dinesh Kumar used to visit various airports to defraud passengers. He used to deceive passengers by claiming to have missed his flight and claiming to be a student at various universities. Once he was able to persuade a passenger, he used his bank account to transfer the money from the ticket and would defraud passengers. It has been discovered throughout the course of the investigation that the accused is responsible for approximately ten instances of the same strategy at various national airports. He has been doing likewise for the last 4–5 years and has duped in excess of 200 travellers as such.

More about the arrest

At the Police Station IGI Airport in New Delhi, the same accused has been the subject of four cases. The accused also stated that he had previously been arrested on similar charges at the airports of Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

During the interrogation, it was also discovered that the accused, Modela Venkata Dinesh Kumar, is currently facing the following charges:

4.    209/2023 Dt. 06.04.2023, U/s 419/420/511 IPC at PS IGI Airport, New Delhi
5.    253/2021 Dt. 14.06.2021, U/s 406/420 IPC at PS Sahar Mumbai
6.    616/2020 Dt. 06.11.2020, U/s 406/420 IPC at PS RGI Airport, Hyderabad
7.    026/2021 Dt. 03.03.2021, U/s 406/420 IPC at PS BIAL, Bengaluru City
8.    046/2021 Dt. 03.03.2020, U/s 406/420 IPC at PS BIAL, Bengaluru City

Modela Venkata Dinesh Kumar, the aforementioned accused, completed his formal education in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur District. Additionally, he completed the BBA programme at Vignan University in Guntur, AP. The accused’s father is a farmer.

The accused above began living independently in rented housing in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, after receiving formal education. He is unemployed and uses the fraudulent sum to pay for everything.
In addition, the case is currently the subject of an investigation.
