Uttar Pradesh Is A Land Of Opportunities, Says MP Dr Dinesh Sharma After Meeting Canadian Hindu Chamber Of Commerce Delegation

A high-level delegation of the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce met Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Dr Dinesh Sharma, on Tuesday and expressed strong interest in investing in Uttar Pradesh.

The delegation comprised Canada-based entrepreneurs of Indian origin, who said the time had come to serve the motherland from the land of their professional work.

During the meeting, members of the delegation proposed a five-year Canada–Uttar Pradesh Investment Initiative focusing on sectors such as industrial development, technology, clean energy, agri-food processing, tourism, healthcare, and skill development.

The delegation was led by Chamber President Kushagr Dutt Sharma and included Trustee Chair Naresh Kumar Chawda, Advisory Board member Hemant Kumar Dixit, along with 26 other members.

Investment Opportunities and Development Prospects in Uttar Pradesh

Welcoming the delegation, Dr Sharma described Uttar Pradesh as a land of vast opportunities. He said that since 2017, the state has emerged as a leader in development, with major improvements in law and order and infrastructure.

He highlighted the expansion of airports from two to 22, metro operations in seven cities, improved road and power infrastructure, and growth in sectors such as mobile manufacturing, automobiles, defence production, and healthcare.

Dr Sharma said that Uttar Pradesh is now manufacturing defence equipment such as the BrahMos missile and automatic rifles, and has become known nationwide for its expressways.

He added that the state’s identity has expanded beyond the Taj Mahal to include religious centres such as Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura, and Chitrakoot, with religious tourism significantly boosting economic activity.

Dr Sharma also spoke about welfare schemes and economic reforms, stating that free food distribution, scientific research, urban development under the Amrit Yojana, employment generation in rural areas, GST reforms, and the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme have strengthened both the state and national economy. He said India is now among the world’s leading economies with strong GDP growth.

Members of the delegation acknowledged India’s role in preventive healthcare and expressed readiness to invest in hospitals and old-age homes. They also showed keen interest in investing in the commercial zone of Jewar Airport.

About the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce

The delegation noted that the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce, established in 2021, has four chapters and represents nearly two million Hindus in Canada, while maintaining dialogue with the Canadian government on economic matters.

Dr Sharma urged the delegation to consider investing in Ayodhya, stating that development projects associated with the legacy of former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh would receive nationwide support.

Emphasising emotional ties with the motherland, he said people of Indian origin continue to play a vital role in global economies and can contribute significantly to India’s growth as well.
