US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan Visits India To Strengthen Bilateral Ties

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan arrived in New Delhi today for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser of India.

The visit underscores the ongoing commitment to enhance the India-US global strategic partnership across various domains.

Accompanied by a delegation comprising senior US government officials and industry leaders, Sullivan aims to bolster cooperation with India on critical and emerging technologies under the India- US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET).

This initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joseph Biden in May 2022, focuses on areas such as Semiconductors, AI, Quantum Computing, Defence Innovation, Space, and Advanced Telecommunications, and now expanded to include biotechnology, critical minerals, rare earths processing technologies, digital connectivity, digital public infrastructure, and advanced materials.

During his visit, Sullivan and Doval engaged in discussions on bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest.

A key agenda item includes the first annual review of iCET, where inter-departmental delegations from both countries will assess progress and strategize future priorities and deliverables.

Additionally, Sullivan met with External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar to discuss further strengthening diplomatic ties.

As per reports, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss broader strategic issues and opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.

Tomorrow, Sullivan will participate in an India-US iCET Roundtable with Industry CEOs organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, aimed at fostering collaboration between private sector leaders from both countries.

The ongoing visit reflects the robust and multi-faceted nature of the India-US relationship, highlighting the strategic importance of bilateral cooperation in navigating global challenges and advancing shared interests.
