UPPSC: FIR Registered Against Commission Secretary Ashok Kumar in RO-ARO Paper Leak Scandal

Prayagraj: A first information report (FIR) has been lodged on the complaint of Commission Secretary Ashok Kumar at the Civil Lines police station in connection with the paper leak in the Review Officer-Assistant Review Officer (RO-ARO) examination of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC).

One hundred and three questions of the first question paper, General Studies, and twenty-five questions of the second question paper, General Hindi, were leaked ahead of the examination. Evidence of this has also been found in the representation of the candidates. After the preliminary investigation, a report has been filed by the commission.

1076004 candidates had applied for 411 posts of RO/ARO. 2387 centers were created for the examination in 58 districts of the state. 64 percent of candidates appeared in the examination held on February 11. It was the first time that such a large number of candidates had applied for any examination of the Commission. It was also the first time that such a hefty number of centers were made for any examination.

This time, the Commission had taken many new steps to prevent irregularities in the examination. More than 50 percent of external chamber invigilators were deployed in the examination centers. The Commission had even sent a proposal to the government that, on the lines of Rajasthan, internet services should be shut down during the examinations here too, but given the problems it would cause to the common people, the government did not allow it. The paper went viral on WhatsApp one and a half to two hours before the examination.

Earlier, a case of a paper leak had also come to light in the RO/ARO Preliminary Examination 2016. A CBCID investigation was conducted into this case, and the agency gave it a clean chit.

Later, the matter went to court, where the Commission re-conducted the preliminary examination.
