CM Yogi instructs UP Police to maintain law & order
After gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a late-night meeting instructed the UP police to be on high alert and also to ensure the law and order are maintained across the entire state.
According to the Chief Minister’s office official statement, “UP CM Yogi Adityanath has instructed Police officers to be on alert, ensure peace, law and order are maintained in the state and the public doesn’t face any trouble.”
Moreover, the chief minister also appealed to the public to avoid paying attention to the rumours floating around about the incident.
The official statement mentioned, “CM has also appealed to people not to pay any attention to rumours. Strict action will be taken against those who spread rumours.”
Taking notes from the high-profile meeting, it was held at Chief Minister’s residence and was attended by UP Home Secretary Sanjay Prasad, UP Police Director General of Police (DGP) RK Vishwakarma and other senior officials.
Days after Atiq’s son Asad was killed in an encounter in UP’s Jhansi, the gangster-turned-politician and his brother Ashraf were killed on Saturday night around 10.00-10.30 PM, while being taken for a medical in Prayagraj.
After the incident took place, the Uttar Pradesh government imposed Section 144 of CrCP in all districts, the officials said. Moreover, the UP police are patrolling in Lucknow’s Husainabad, Mathura, and Mau for security checks after this incident.
Three attackers have been arrested, who seem to be juveniles, identified as Sunny, Lovelesh, and Arun killed Atiq and Ashraf Ahmed in a series of firing.
