UP Moving Towards $1 Trillion Economy, Says PM Narendra Modi In Hardoi

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Uttar Pradesh is progressing rapidly towards becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy, while criticising earlier governments for slow development and poor infrastructure.

Addressing a public gathering in Hardoi after inaugurating the Ganga Expressway, the Prime Minister highlighted the pace of recent projects. He noted that the expressway, whose foundation laid in December 2021, reached completion within a few years.

“This is the vision of the double-engine government. This is the pace at which the BJP government works,” PM Modi stated.

Referring to infrastructure growth, the Prime Minister said modern highways are playing a crucial role in India’s development.

“The newly constructed expressways serve as the lifelines of Viksit Bharat. And today, these modern lifelines are heralding the dawn of India’s bright future,” PM Modi remarked.

Taking aim at previous administrations, the Prime Minister said development projects earlier faced long delays.

“The era when one had to wait for decades just to get a single road built is now a thing of the past. Once an announcement made, files would languish in bureaucratic channels for years on end. Foundation stones would be laid merely for the sake of elections; thereafter, governments would come and go, but there would be absolutely no sign of any actual work taking place,” PM Modi asserted.

Describing the newly opened corridor as more than just a road, the Prime Minister said it would create economic opportunities and improve connectivity.

“This expressway is not merely a high-speed road; it serves as a gateway to new possibilities, new avenues, and new opportunities,” PM Modi said.

Highlighting the state’s ambitions, the Prime Minister added, “Uttar Pradesh, once labelled a ‘backward’ and ‘Bimaru’ state, is today marching forward with the aim of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.”

PM Narendra Modi noted that the state’s large youth population is a key driver of this transformation. He added that efforts are underway to strengthen its position as a manufacturing hub.

The Prime Minister also pointed to improvements in transport infrastructure. He noted that Uttar Pradesh now has an extensive expressway network and multiple airports. These have significantly reduced travel time across regions.

On law and order, the Prime Minister said the situation in the state has improved compared to earlier years. He noted that crime and instability were major concerns then.

The Prime Minister also criticised opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress. He accused them of opposing development initiatives and key reforms such as the women’s reservation bill.

PM Narendra Modi expressed confidence that continued infrastructure expansion and policy support would accelerate growth. He said these efforts would strengthen the state’s role in the national economy.
