Prayagraj: The government is engaged in the development and expansion of basic facilities in Prayagraj where major pilgrimage sites in the city has been identified and blue print has been prepaired.
In this series, the twelve Madhav temples of Prayagraj are also going to be rejuvenated. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the UP Tourism Department has prepared a complete road map for the development of all the Madhav temples of Prayagraj.
Recently, after the direction of UP Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath, the Tourism department has started working to rejuvenate the Dwadash Madhav temples before the upcoming Mahakumbh
In this regard the Tourism Department has also given a presentation related to this up coming project in a meeting presided over by The Chief Minister . Before Mahakumbh-2025, saints and devotees of the country and the world got the gift of Dwadash Madhav Circuit in the form of pilgrimage. Along with pilgrimage circumambulation, basic tourism facilities will also be developed in this 125 km long spiritual circuit.
According to the religious sculpture Lord Madhav is worshiped as the main deity of Prayagraj. His twelve (twelve) forms are established in Prayagraj. There is a mythological belief that to protect the Sangam in Prayagraj, Shri Krishna had assumed twelve forms. It is written in Matsya Purana that the one who circumambulates Dwadash Madhav gets the virtue of seeing all the pilgrimage places and gods and goddesses. Many sages, including Maharishi Bhardwaj, have been circumambulating it, but during the Mughal and British periods, the Dwadash temple had fallen into disrepair.
Even after independence, there was indifference among the governments regarding these. Large scale encroachment around Madhav temples is the biggest challenge for the government. Shankha Madhav in Jhunsi and Gada Madhav in Naini have completely become victims of encroachment. At some places there is no straight path and at some places only a two feet wide path is left. Now the Yogi government has taken up the initiative to rejuvenate the Dwadash Madhav temples.
According to the information received from the department, boundary wall construction, public toilets, drinking water arrangements, shoe racks, interlocking and landscape, pathways, roads and footpaths, benches, murals, dustbins, passenger sheds, lighting lamps etc. and parking arrangements have been made. Will go.
Nine Madhav temples will be rejuvenated in the first phase. In this, Sankashtahar Madhav and Shankha Madhav located at Jhunsi, Bindu Madhav located at Draupadi Ghat, Anant Madhav located at Chowfatka, Manohar Madhav located at Chowk, Padma Madhav located at Bikar village, Gada Madhav located at Chhinvki and Adiveni Madhav and Chakra Madhav located at Arail are involved in giving a grand look to the temples.
