Delhi-Noida border witnessed massive traffic congestion on Thursday as security personnel intensified vehicle checks following a protest call by farmers in Noida and Greater Noida, officials reported. Long lines of vehicles clogged the roads, particularly at Sarita Vihar, with numerous two-wheelers and four-wheelers stuck in the jam. Similar heavy traffic was reported on the Delhi-Noida highway.
Meanwhile, heightened security measures were implemented in the national capital, particularly along the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border, in anticipation of significant farmer demonstrations. Traffic arrangements were put in place, with commuters advised to avoid certain routes.
“Heavy security arrangements have been implemented at various border entry points in the national capital to maintain law and order,” stated a senior police officer. Additional police and paramilitary forces were deployed to ensure security, with pickets and barricades set up at border areas connecting Delhi-Haryana and Delhi-Uttar Pradesh.
According to Delhi Traffic Police, heavy traffic is anticipated on routes linked to Soniya Vihar, DND, Chilla, Gazipur, Sabhapur, Apsara, and Loni borders on Thursday. Commuters have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid affected routes.
