Tourist Visits Restricted As Bogatha Falls Touches The Danger Mark

The allure of waterfalls becomes even more captivating during the monsoons, attracting tourists to visit these enchanting spots. One such gem is the Bogatha Waterfall, nestled in the tranquil Chikupalle forest area of Wazeedu Mandal, in Telangana’s Mulugu district. Often referred to as the Niagara Falls of Telangana, this majestic cascade is a popular destination for tourists seeking natural beauty and serenity.

However, with heavy rainfall in the northern regions of India, the water levels at Bogatha Falls have surged to the danger mark. As a precautionary measure, the forest authorities have temporarily suspended tourist access to the waterfall starting Wednesday. The swift increase in water flow has raised concerns, and there are reports of possible rain this weekend, exacerbating the situation.

To ensure the safety of visitors, the Wazeedu Forest Range Officer (FRO), B Chandarmouli, announced that tourists will only be permitted to visit Bogatha Waterfall once the water recedes to a normal level. The area is currently under the control of the State Forest Department, and permission is required for tourists to explore this natural wonder.

As an additional safety measure, a fence has been erected at the waterfall to prevent accidents, as there have been instances of people falling into the stream. To reach the waterfall, tourists are required to be accompanied by local tribal guides, as the forest staff prohibits trekking to the waterfalls without their assistance. The local police have also intensified their vigilance in the area due to the growing number of tourists flocking to this picturesque location.

Apart from Telangana, the governments of Goa and Karnataka have also imposed restrictions on tourists entering waterfall sites as precautionary measures.
