The Trinamool Congress unveiled its election manifesto on Wednesday, just ahead of the commencement of the first phase of elections. Promising an array of measures, including increased income for laborers and free housing for impoverished families, the manifesto also reiterated Mamata Banerjee’s firm stance against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, National Register of Citizens, and Uniform Civil Code in Bengal. Trinamool leaders emphasized their commitment to supporting the Congress-led alliance at the national level, despite the absence of an alliance in the state.
Outlined in the manifesto are ten key promises, ranging from economic welfare to education and social security. These include ensuring a daily wage of ₹400 for job card holders, free housing for the needy, and the provision of ten free gas cylinders annually to families below the poverty line. Additionally, initiatives such as doorstep delivery of rations and increased allowances for SC/ST education and old-age support are highlighted.

Mamata Banerjee, while campaigning in Assam, lambasted the BJP, accusing them of turning the nation into a “detention camp” with their policies. She vowed that if the INDIA bloc assumes power at the Centre, they will repeal the CAA and halt the NRC. Banerjee expressed grave concerns about the state of democracy under the prospect of Narendra Modi securing a third consecutive term, warning of dire consequences for the nation’s democratic fabric.
The manifesto, intended to reach a diverse audience, is being released in six languages, reflecting Trinamool’s commitment to inclusivity. Mamata Banerjee’s absence at the manifesto release event due to her campaign engagements in Assam underscores the party’s multi-pronged approach to the electoral battlegrounds.
