TMC Did Not Lose, Says Mamata Banerjee; Refuses To Accept Bengal Verdict

Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission of India following her party’s defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections. She alleged that the poll body engaged in ‘nasty games’ and claimed the electoral process lacked fairness.

Addressing the media, Mamata asserted that her party had not truly lost the mandate and refused to accept the outcome as a reflection of public will. She stated that she would not visit the Raj Bhavan to submit her resignation, signalling her strong rejection of the results.

Mamata Banerjee accused the central government and the ECI of acting in coordination, alleging direct interference in the electoral process. She claimed similar methods were used in earlier elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar, and West Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee said the situation raised serious concerns about democratic functioning.

Mamata warned that a biased election system and absence of institutional balance could damage India’s global democratic reputation. She also alleged that she faced physical assault at a polling station, stating that she was pushed and mistreated.

Mamata claimed that surveillance systems were not operational during the incident.

Opposition leaders, however, raised concerns over the electoral outcome, claiming that the mandate in Bengal and Assam was compromised. These developments have intensified political tensions in the state.

They now drive debates over electoral integrity, institutional neutrality, and governance credibility across West Bengal and the national political landscape.
