40 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir are under the poll process as first assembly election in 10 years concludes today amid final phase.
For the third phase, that is taking place amid tightened security, prominent faces including former Deputy Chief Ministers Tara Chand and Muzaffar Beig, are among the 415 candidates in the running today.
Of total 40 Assembly constituencies, 26 are in Jammu division while 16 fall under Kashmir division. Notably, in the concluding phase 39.18 lakh eligible voter will decide the political fate of as many as 415 candidates.

Voting is taking place in 40 Assembly constituencies in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts of Jammu division and in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of the Valley.
The Election Commission has set up 5,030 polling stations for voters for the third phase of polling.
Special polling stations have been set up for Kashmiri migrant voters. Of these 11 are in Jammu, four in Delhi and one in Udhampur district.
Police officials said that adequate number of security personnel drawn from the CRPF and the J&K Police has been deployed for smooth polling on Tuesday.
Notably, the result of the election is scheduled for 8 October. The first and second phase of three phased election has already taken place on 19 September and 26 Sept.
This is first assembly election after abrogation of Article 370 that gave Jammu and Kashmir status of special state, however J&K continues to be union territory as region awaits for restoration of status of state.
