Gaganyaan mission

India’s first manned space mission, called Gaganyaan, is scheduled to launch in 2024 or 2025. The project plans to send a three-person crew into a 400-kilometer orbit for a three-day mission, with the goal of safely returning them to Earth by landing in Indian Ocean waters.
According to an ISRO press release, the mission is carried out through an optimal strategy that takes into account internal knowledge, industry experience, academic and research institution intellectual capacity, and cutting-edge technologies available with foreign agencies.

Human rating of the ISRO mission

The human rating of ISRO’s CE20 cryogenic engine was successfully finished last week, greatly assisting India’s bid to launch the mission. This was a major step in this mission on which, a lot of things depended.

“ISRO has accomplished a major milestone in the human rating of its CE20 cryogenic engine that powers the cryogenic stage of the human-rated LVM3 launch vehicle for Gaganyaan missions, with the completion of the final round of ground qualification tests on February 13, 2024. The final test was the seventh of a series of vacuum ignition tests carried out at the High Altitude Test Facility at ISRO Propulsion Complex, Mahendragiri, to simulate the flight conditions,” the ISRO said in a statement.
