Terrorist Killed, Two Soldiers Injured In Fierce LoC Clash In Kupwara

In a fierce firefight on Saturday in the Trehgam sector of Kupwara District, North Kashmir, security forces killed one Pakistani terrorist and injured two Army soldiers.

According to a statement from the Army, the clash erupted at a forward post in Kamkari, Macchal Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) after soldiers detected movement by unidentified militants.

The exchange of fire killed one terrorist and injured two soldiers, who have since received medical treatment.

Reinforcements have been deployed to support ongoing operations in the area.

The confrontation is part of a series of recent infiltration attempts by terrorists, reportedly aided by the Pakistan Army.

On 18 July, the Army neutralized two terrorists during an attempted infiltration in the Keran sector of Kupwara District.

Another incident on 24 July in the Battal sector of Krishna Ghati, Poonch District, saw the death of a terrorist and an Army soldier during a thwarted infiltration attempt.

The specifics of Saturday’s clash, whether it was an infiltration attempt or a different form of militant activity, remain under investigation.

These incidents come amid increased militant ambushes in the hilly regions of Jammu division over the past two months.

Reports suggest that a group of 40-50 foreign mercenaries may be active in the mountainous areas of Jammu, with Pakistani-backed terrorists attempting to intensify their operations.

In response, the Indian Army has deployed over 4,000 elite Para-Commandos and mountain warfare experts across several districts, including Poonch, Doda, Rajouri, Kathua, Reasi, Ramban, and Udhampur, in a concerted effort to combat terrorism and restore stability to the region.
