Supreme Court Issues Notice to NTA in NEET UG-2024 Scam Cas

The process of filing petitions in the NEET UG-2024 scam case is ongoing. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and sought a response regarding the petition filed concerning the involvement of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court will hear the matter next on July 8. The new petition demands an investigation by the ED under the Money Laundering Act.

Investigation Demands and Court Hearing

The petition urges the court to direct the ED to investigate the accused under the Money Laundering Act. The bench hearing the matter consists of Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice SV N Bhatti. However, the Supreme Court has declined to hear the case immediately. Besides re-conducting the NEET exam, the petition also calls for the Central Government and NTA to take appropriate steps to maintain transparency, prevent paper leaks, and avoid the use of unfair methods in future examinations.

Notice Issued on Priya Gupta’s Petition

The court has also issued a notice on a petition filed by Priya Gupta, a student from Aurangabad, Bihar. Her petition demands a CBI inquiry into the matter and the cancellation of the exam. Priya Gupta’s father is optimistic that the NEET-2024 exam will eventually be canceled.

Supreme Court’s Strict Stance

Earlier, the Supreme Court had warned the NTA that even a minor fault would be dealt with strictly. The court emphasized the importance of the hard work students put into their preparation. It noted that allowing someone to become a doctor through fraudulent means would pose a significant threat to society and the healthcare system.

Addressing Student Complaints

The Supreme Court advised the NTA not to ignore student complaints. The court urged the NTA to acknowledge and address any genuine mistakes in the examination process. The agency is expected to act impartially in its investigation and response.
