SUBHADRA Scheme: Pravati Parida Meets PM Modi Ahead Of August 28 Instalment

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and briefed him on preparations for the fifth instalment of the SUBHADRA scheme, the Odisha government’s flagship women empowerment initiative.

According to an official statement, the fifth instalment will reach beneficiaries from Nayagarh in Odisha on August 28, coinciding with Rakhi Purnima.

Each eligible beneficiary will receive ₹5,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

As per the latest preparations, 1,03,26,162 eligible women beneficiaries will likely receive the instalment, involving a total transfer of more than ₹5,160 crore.

Parida apprised the Prime Minister of measures being taken to ensure the assistance reaches all eligible beneficiaries seamlessly and on time.

The preparations include beneficiary verification, e-KYC, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, NPCI mapping and other banking arrangements.

The Deputy Chief Minister briefed PM Modi on the significance of the fifth instalment in advancing the state government’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion across Odisha.

Prime Minister Modi launched the SUBHADRA scheme in Bhubaneswar on September 17, 2024.

The women-centric initiative aims to provide ₹50,000 in financial assistance to eligible women over five years.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹10,000 annually in two equal instalments of ₹5,000 each through DBT.

The upcoming fifth instalment will therefore mark another milestone in the implementation of the programme.

The state government has highlighted the instalment as part of its efforts to strengthen women’s economic independence and ensure that welfare assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries through a transparent and efficient system.
