PM Modi Reviews Rs 30,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects At 53rd PRAGATI Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reviewed six major infrastructure projects across the railway, road and power sectors, covering nine states and involving a cumulative cost of more than Rs 30,000 crore.

Chairing the 53rd meeting of PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, at Seva Teerth, the Prime Minister stressed that delays in infrastructure projects have consequences beyond cost escalation.

Such delays postpone the benefits meant for citizens, businesses and the broader economy.

PM Modi emphasised that infrastructure projects should be monitored as integrated wholes rather than as separate sections, stretches or packages. He said progress in individual packages must ultimately lead to the timely completion and operationalisation of the entire project.

The Prime Minister asked Ministries and state governments to adopt an end-to-end approach and address critical gaps that could delay overall commissioning and the delivery of benefits. He called for a proactive work culture across Ministries and state governments, with greater ownership at every stage of project implementation.

Prime Minister Modi stressed the need to explore common utility corridors for infrastructure services wherever feasible, particularly during the planning of major transport and infrastructure projects.

The advisory urged Ministries and states to examine such integrated approaches at the planning stage based on technical and economic feasibility.

The Prime Minister said faster execution must be accompanied by uncompromising quality. He called on Ministries, states and implementing agencies to adopt modern technologies while strengthening quality assurance and supervision at every stage.

During the review of AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, PM Modi emphasised using the latest digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, to derive greater value from agricultural data.

While reviewing cyber fraud cases, including digital arrest incidents, the Prime Minister stressed the need to strengthen prevention through sustained training, awareness and education.
