‘Students Come Before Power’: Amit Shah On Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said Dharmendra Pradhan’s decision to step down as Union Education Minister embodied the Bharatiya Janata Party’s philosophy of prioritising the country and its students over public office.

Sharing his views on X, Shah stated that BJP workers always place the nation, young people, and students above personal positions or political authority.

Shah asserted that the Narendra Modi-led government remains sensitive to the concerns of students and is determined to strengthen the integrity of the examination system. He said the Centre has introduced stringent measures to tackle examination paper leaks and punish those responsible.

The Minister added that these reforms would safeguard the interests of deserving candidates and ensure fairness for students who qualified in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

The Home Minister credited Pradhan with driving several major reforms in the education sector during his tenure. He said Pradhan played a key role in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP), expanding PM SHRI schools, encouraging digital education, promoting skill development, and fostering stronger links between educational institutions and industry.

Shah also said Pradhan worked to make examinations more accessible, transparent, and student-focused, adding that his efforts supported the vision of building a developed India.

Pradhan’s resignation comes amid widespread protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and increasing calls for accountability.

The government is also working to restore confidence in the examination process and address students’ concerns, making Pradhan’s resignation a significant political development.
