Sticks And Stones Are Thrown As Baratis Fight In Barabanki, UP, Over The Freedom To Dance

In the village of Hazratpur, close to the Badosarai police station in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, there was a lot of disorder during the brides’ procession for two Muslim family girls. The two barats got into an altercation and started throwing bricks, stones, sticks, and anything else they could find at one another. There was a stampede during the commotion, and it appears that more than a dozen people were hurt.

An argument broke out between the two wedding parties over dancing to the DJ at the Nikah ceremony for the daughters of Jalil Hanif and Garib. Both girls’ weddings were set for the same day and location.  Accordingly, the two groom’s parties, one from Tikaitnagar and the other from Safdarganj, each with a DJ arrived in the afternoon. Both sides were singing and dancing on their way until they met each other on a village road.

They first got into a fight, which quickly turned into kids throwing rocks at each other and hitting each other with sticks. After their rods and stakes broke, the people gathered nearby shrubs and twigs and threw them at one another.

Injuries sustained in the incident included significant ones for Abdul Salam, Siraj Ahmed, Ramzan, Rehan, Aleem, and Azim.

This incident was captured on camera, and the video quickly went viral on social media. Dinesh Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP), was informed of the situation and instructed the Additional SP to look into it and take the necessary measures.

Ashutosh Mishra revealed information about the crime late at night and said that the police had arrived and handled the matter. He added that a case had been started after receiving a complaint from each group. Stone-pelting has resulted in several injuries and strict action will be taken.

He added that the incident has caused a sense of panic in the town.
