Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi are likely to contest from the Rae Bareli and Amethi constituencies.
As per the sources, the final decision on their candidacies will come after 26 April. Nominations are likely to file next week.
Notably, Phase 2 of the elections, including Wayanad, from where Rahul Gandhi is contesting, is scheduled during this phase.
The Congress party is actively competing for seats in its traditional strongholds of Rae Bareli and Amethi. Additionally, it is vying for seats in Varanasi, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur.
Nonetheless, the party seems determined to contest vigorously for each seat it is entering.
Amethi and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituencies are slated to vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on 20 May.
Earlier on Wednesday, posters depicting Robert Vadra emerged outside the party’s office in the Gauriganj area of Amethi.
This sparked speculation regarding a potential candidacy for Vadra.
Meanwhile, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Smriti Irani secured victory over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Amethi.
Irani has once again been nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party to contest from the same constituency.
