On International Women’s Day 2025, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister, extended heartfelt wishes to all women in the country, emphasizing their importance and the ongoing efforts for their empowerment.
He highlighted the collective commitment to improving women’s lives, pointing out the significant role of various initiatives aimed at empowering women.
Referring to the ancient Indian saying, “Yatra Naaryastu Pujyante, Ramante Tatra Devataa,” Chouhan underscored the respect and honor given to women as a form of divine presence, reinforcing their central role in society.
Furthermore, Chouhan acknowledged the pivotal role played by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in advocating for women’s economic, political, and social empowerment.
This vision, he emphasized, aligns with the government’s ongoing commitment to uplifting women from all walks of life.
Transitioning to the concrete steps taken in this direction, he focused on the Aajeevika Mission, an initiative under the Ministry of Rural Development.
Chouhan revealed that the Aajeevika Mission has successfully created 91 lakh self-help groups, involving around 11 crore women across 745 districts and 7138 blocks in the country.
These groups empower women through financial inclusion and entrepreneurship, providing access to loans and business opportunities.
Through Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Rs 50,000 crore has been allocated to these groups, and an additional Rs 10 lakh 14 thousand crore has been made available through banks at low-interest rates.
These funds have enabled women to engage in diverse businesses, improving their livelihoods and reducing poverty.
This mission, Chouhan noted, has played a key role in uplifting women across India, facilitating their involvement in self-help groups and providing them with financial independence, thus contributing significantly to women’s empowerment nationwide.
Chouhan celebrated the success of women who have become “Lakhpati Didis” through the mission, with over 1.25 crore women having reached this milestone.
The government’s goal is to increase this number to 3 crore in the next four years.
He also emphasized the social empowerment of women, stating that as women become economically independent, their respect in society grows.
Chouhan On X shared a heartfelt message to all the women wishing a very happy International Women’s day with the caption ”Nari Tu Narayani”
Education is also a major focus, with initiatives like “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” leading to increased enrollment of girls in schools.
Chouhan highlighted that the political empowerment of women is also progressing, with 33% of seats in the upcoming elections dedicated to women.
He expressed confidence that women would not only become MPs and MLAs but would also play a vital role in shaping India’s future.
In conclusion, Chouhan urged all women to continue their journey of empowerment, assuring that the government would continue to support them through various initiatives.
He congratulated the women of India for their achievements and encouraged them to keep moving forward for a brighter, more equal future.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Statement: “The Aajeevika Mission is an important tool in empowering women, providing them with the financial resources, dignity, and independence they deserve. Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a developed India will only be fulfilled when women rise, take charge, and shape the future of our country. I extend my best wishes to all women on this International Women’s Day.”
