Shaping The Future: How Minority Schools Are Designing A Viksit Bharat@2047

Minority educational institutions are emerging as pivotal architects of Viksit Bharat@2047. A national conference in Lucknow positioned these schools and colleges as central engines of India’s growth, not peripheral contributors.

The Uttar Pradesh Department of Minority Welfare, in partnership with the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI), hosted the one-day event at Chaudhary Charan Singh Auditorium.

Themed “Minority Educational Institutions in Unity, Cultural Diversity, and Nation Building: Viksit Bharat@2047,” the conference called for strong collaboration among policymakers, regulators, universities, and community leaders.

Uttar Pradesh Minister for Minority Welfare, Danish Azad Ansari, opened the session with a sharp focus on demographics.

He said, “Nearly 20% of Uttar Pradesh’s population belongs to minority communities”.This is an untapped reservoir of talent. Education is the non-negotiable foundation for Viksit Bharat”.

Danish Azad Ansari urged minority institutions to lead in realising India’s long-term development vision.

Education, Unity, Diversity & Progress

Prof Naima Khatoon, Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, highlighted NCMEI’s role as a ‘bridge’ connecting national policies with grassroots execution.

She explained, “By streamlining communication between the Centre and States, the Commission stabilises governance and empowers minority institutions to pursue excellence”.

The conference also stressed unity beyond faith. Indresh Kumar of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch stated, “Religious conflict has no place in India. Our strength lies in unity, education, morality, and humanity.”

Shahid Akhtar, Officiating Chairman of NCMEI, called minority campuses ‘social laboratories’ that replace distrust with harmony, serving as national models of cohesion.

IAS officer Ankit Kumar Agarwal reframed India’s diversity as a strategic asset. He asserted, “Diversity is a strength, not a challenge. Education drives social mobility and fortifies national unity”.

Colonel Tahir Mustafa, Registrar of Jamia Hamdard, guided the proceedings to consolidate a clear roadmap.

The conference marked a turning point: minority institutions are no longer peripheral but integral to India’s journey toward 2047.

Their mission is clear: educate, unite, and build a developed, inclusive nation rooted in its diversity.
