Young classical dancer Ayrah Hussain captivated audiences at the Rangmancham cultural event held at Kamani Auditorium, where she delivered a series of compelling and gracefully choreographed Kuchipudi performances.
The programme began with a traditional Ganesh Vandana, performed beautifully by Ayrah, which drew loud applause and set the tone for an evening celebrating Indian classical art.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardees Raja and Radha Reddy, along with former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain.
Their presence also added prominence to the occasion, with both maestros praising the importance of nurturing young talent in classical dance.
Following Ganesh Vandana, Ayrah presented a sequence of performances without pause.
She began with ‘Saanson Ki Maala Mein Simroon’, followed by a vibrant depiction of Lord Vishnu’s Narsimha avatar, expressed through powerful mudras and swift footwork.
Ayrah then performed an interpretation of the Kalki avatar, presenting the mythological narrative through expressive abhinaya and rhythmic movement.
Ayrah also brought alive stories associated with the Chandela dynasty and the cultural heritage of Khajuraho temples, narrating poetic verses through the vocabulary of Kuchipudi.
Each performance was met with enthusiastic applause, demonstrating her command of technique and storytelling.
Short visual clips showcased these dance sequences on screen throughout the programme, highlighting Ayrah’s precision and dedication.
A touching audio-visual presentation followed, tracing Ayrah’s journey from the age of four to the present. The film moreover highlighted her years of training, achievements, and the support she received from her family and mentors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of best wishes for the event was also displayed during the programme.
Ayrah’s presentation of Tarangam, one of the most challenging elements of Kuchipudi, became the highlight of the evening.
Performed on the rim of a brass plate, Tarangam demands exceptional balance, control, and precision.
Guided and trained by Guru Raja Reddy, Ayrah delivered the intricate piece flawlessly, earning a standing ovation.
After the event, Ayrah’s father, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, expressed his happiness, saying he felt blessed to have a daughter who continues to bring pride to the family.
Ayrah credited her success to her guru and her parents, acknowledging their unwavering support. Her mother, Renu Hussain, shared that Ayrah had fulfilled her long-held dream by performing at such a prestigious stage.
Guru Raja Reddy, speaking about Ayrah’s performance, said that Kuchipudi is demanding, yet Ayrah surpassed expectations with her dedication and stage presence.
The event saw the presence of several prominent personalities, including Bharat Express CMD Upendrra Rai, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Jayant Chaudhary, Anurag Thakur, and other dignitaries, making the evening a significant cultural celebration.
