Several Flights And Trains Delay Amid Low Visibility; Delhi’s AQI Reaches 421

Amid the low visibility due to fog, flights and trains delayed. The IMD said North India may witness several flight cancellations and train delays in the wake of low visibility due to dense fog. Those planning journeys should check with railways, airlines, state transport and ferry service operators for journey schedules.

Train and Flight Delayed Due To Heavy Fog

Several passengers suffered trains and flights delay. While taking Twitter, news agency ANI informed about the delay of the train status. ANI wrote, 26 trains running late in the Northern Railway region due to fog.”

While informing about the flight status, “Some flights (Delhi-Shimla, Delhi-Kathmandu, Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Jaisalmer, Delhi-Bareilly, Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Srinagar, Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Guwahati) are delayed due to fog and cold in the national capital. Visuals from Delhi airport.”

Dense to Very dense fog was also observed over many parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; some areas of Bihar; isolated pockets over Jammu division, Uttarakhand & north Rajasthan.

Western Disturbances are likely to cause rainfall over the Western Himalayan Region till January 14.

“A Western Disturbance as a trough in middle troposphere westerly winds runs along Long. 70°E to the north of 32°N. Another fresh Western Disturbance as a trough in middle troposphere westerly winds runs along Long. 50°E to the north of 30°N. Under its influence, an induced cyclonic circulation likely to form over central Pakistan by tomorrow, January 11, 2023,” the IMD said in its weather bulletin.

“These systems are very likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall likely over Western Himalayan Region during 10th-14th January and isolated light rainfall over Punjab, Haryana and adjoining area of west Uttar Pradesh during 11th -13th January, 2023,” the weather department further added.

Today’s Weather Update

Dense to very dense fog is very likely over some pockets of Bihar.

Dense fog is expected in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Tripura.

Cold wave condition is forecast in isolated pockets over Bihar.

Cold day condition is possible in isolated pockets over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Heavy rainfall or snowfall may lash isolated pockets over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and hail may pelt isolated pockets over the Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh.

Delhi’s AQI Reaches 421

Ahead the temperature dip in the national capital, AQI (Air Quality Index) reached to 421.

In a report by ANI, it said, “Delhi | Smog engulfs Delhi, air quality is in ‘Severe’ category with an overall AQI of 421. Visuals from Vijay Chowk area.”
