Seva Sankalp Abhiyan: PM Modi Interacts With Seva Yatris, Highlights Grassroots India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted via video conference with Seva Yatris travelling from Varanasi to Vadnagar under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

The participants shared experiences from their journey, including interactions with villagers and beneficiaries of government welfare schemes.

The Seva Yatris spoke about the impact of welfare initiatives on children, women and elderly people. They shared stories of beneficiaries and described the warm welcome extended to them by local communities.

Interacting with the participants, PM Modi said such journeys help people understand India at the grassroots level and allow younger generations to experience the country’s diversity. He said staying with villagers and interacting with local families helps participants understand their lives, aspirations and experiences.

A participant from Unnao recalled meeting an elderly woman who expressed gratitude to PM Modi after receiving a pucca house under a government scheme.

Another participant highlighted the benefits of Ayushman Bharat for a young girl who received treatment and recovered.

PM Modi spoke about road safety after noticing several participants wearing saffron turbans presented by villagers. He reminded them to wear helmets while riding motorcycles.

The Prime Minister urged the Seva Yatris to inspire people to contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat and document their experiences from the journey. He further stressed the importance of continuous social reform, citing Mahatma Gandhi’s work beyond the freedom movement.

PM Modi called for dignity and respect for sanitation workers, highlighting their contribution to society. He recalled Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s emphasis on Swadeshi and public service, saying the Seva Yatra reflected patriotism and service.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan began on September 17, with 1,000 Seva Yatris travelling across 20 routes and around 1,000 villages.

The journeys include cleanliness drives, beneficiary interactions, youth dialogues, Gram Sabha Samvad, Gau Seva and tree plantation. The programme will continue until October 7.
