Security Forces Unearth Major Naxal Weapons Cache During Search Operation In Chhattisgarh Forests

Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from an underground Naxal dump in the forests of Lanka Pahadi village in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.

The recovery took place on Monday during an intensive search and de-mining operation in the forested terrain under Bedre police station. Acting on intelligence inputs, security personnel searched the area and uncovered the carefully buried dump.

The seized material included an SLR/LMG rifle, an INSAS rifle, a .315-bore gun and two BGL (barrel grenade launcher) systems. Forces recovered 17 BGL shells, a Chinese hand grenade, 49 SLR rounds, 15 rounds of .315-bore ammunition and 15 BGL cartridges.

The recovery included four SLR magazines and one .315-bore magazine, besides other equipment. Officials said the weapons and ammunition were seized, with further investigation and legal proceedings underway.

Security forces have conducted several similar operations across Bijapur this month. On September 20, they recovered an AK-47, a .315-bore rifle, a single-shot weapon, a pistol, ammunition and magazines from Aadwara forests.

On September 16, forces seized a .315-bore rifle, 49 live rounds, 25 .303 rounds, 49 12-bore rounds, eight kilograms of gelatin and a walkie-talkie from Bade-Aalwara forests.

Earlier, operations on September 10 and September 1 yielded detonators, grenades, non-electric wire, BGL shells, a country-made pistol and other materials.

Across September, forces have recovered one LMG, one AK-47, one INSAS, two .315-bore weapons, one 12-bore weapon, three BGL launchers and two pistols, along with explosives and ammunition.

Officials said search and de-mining operations would continue in sensitive forest areas.
