A dramatic incident unfolded at a prestigious five-star hotel in Delhi last Thursday during the G20 summit, where the Chinese delegation had checked in. Security officials requested the Chinese delegation to pass the bags through a scanner, but they initially resisted, claiming diplomatic immunity. This disagreement resulted in a 12-hour standoff, during which the hotel’s security team stood guard. Eventually, the issue was resolved when the Chinese officials agreed to send the bags to their embassy.

The G20 summit took place in the national capital on September 9 and 10, with India hosting the event. Notably, the summit achieved a diplomatic victory by achieving “100% consensus” on the ‘New Delhi Declaration,’ despite significant differences on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Chinese President Xi Jinping was absent from the summit, and Premier Li Qiang led the Chinese delegation.

China stated its continued support for the G20’s work, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation among member countries to address global economic and developmental challenges.
