Tension In Assam Town After Girl Gang-Raped By 5 Men
A horrific case of abduction and gang rape has come from the Majbat area of the Udalguri district of Assam. Five Islamists allegedly abducted and gang-raped a minor Hindu girl. The Police arrested all of them.
The arrested Islamists are Mustaq Ahmed, Mohidul Islam, Hafizul Ali, Saddam Ali and Ehsan Ahmed.
On the evening of the 22nd of June, the victim girl was returning home through a village road. The Islamists abducted her. They dragged her to a nearby place and gang-raped her.
Later, based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested all the accused.
Meanwhile, the incident caused massive tension in the Majbat area. Angry locals attacked the houses of the accused. Locals vandalised the houses and set them on fire.
As the tension prevailing in the area, massive police force has been deployed to maintain the law and order. Also, the administration appealed the locals to maintain peace and harmony.
In a press conference today, Udalguri Superintendent of Police, IPS, Pushkin Jain, mentioned, “We took immediate action upon receiving the complaint and arrested the five accused from various areas of Udalguri and the surrounding Darrang district, and registered the case under Mazbat P.S. case no. 30/24 under the relevant sections of the IPC.”
He emphasized the commitment to a comprehensive investigation and called on the public and stakeholders to uphold law and order, encouraging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation. He also stated that the victim is currently receiving medical and psychological support as per the law’s provisions.
