Satya Niketan Building Collapse: CM Rekha Gupta Says All Efforts Underway To Rescue Trapped People

On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said all possible efforts were being made to rescue people trapped after a building collapsed in RK Puram’s Satya Niketan area. She said she was closely monitoring the situation and directed attention towards the safety of those affected.

The building collapsed near Shiv Mandir in Satya Niketan, with two people rescued so far. Several others are feared to be trapped under the debris, officials said.

Delhi Chief Minister said teams from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) and Civil Defence were carrying out rescue operations.

As a precaution, the adjoining building was evacuated, the Chief Minister said. She added that authorities were coordinating the rescue operation and providing immediate assistance to affected families.

Officials said several students were staying in the collapsed building, which was being used as a paying guest accommodation. The exact number of people trapped was yet to be confirmed.

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also expressed concern over the incident and said rescue efforts were underway. He further offered prayers for the safety of those trapped and conveyed his condolences to the affected families.

Delhi Police said a rescue operation had been launched at the site. Officials said further details would be confirmed as the search operation progresses.
