On 23 October 2025, ‘Bharat Bharti’ launched a major campaign across India to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
The campaign, aligned with the vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, aims to foster national unity and cultural harmony, especially within educational institutions.
The seven-day journey began in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, led by National Organiser Jagannath Kunjbihari Swain and North India Regional Head Mohammad Irfan Ahmed.
The campaign seeks to commemorate Patel’s historic role in integrating 562 princely states, underscoring his unmatched contribution to India’s unity.
The idea was conceptualised earlier this year at the all-India convention held at the Statue of Unity, Kevadia, Gujarat.
It involves organising national unity programmes in 150 universities, key educational institutions such as IITs and IIMs, and in 150 major cities across India.
The campaign focuses on celebrating India’s rich cultural and linguistic diversity, fostering unity among the youth.
By encouraging ‘Mini India’ within campuses, it aims to inspire students to embrace and promote India’s pluralistic heritage.
During the Srinagar visit, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nazir Ganai of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) welcomed the initiative and agreed to host a grand event on 31 October.
The Kashmir University Vice Chancellor, Professor Nilofar Khan, along with the Registrar and Dean of Student Welfare, also agreed to conduct events in March 2026.
The campaign’s team engaged with several educational leaders, government officials, and social figures during their visit.
The campaign team also met with the Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, who expressed full support and assured his presence at upcoming events.
The Kashmir delegation included Advocate Sibgat Khan, IFS officer Irfan Ali Shah, Mrs Roza Shah, and Dr Fayyaz Bhatt, among others.
In Jammu, coordinators such as Pawan Vivek and cultural coordinators RC Sharma, Kulbhushan Malhotra, Opendra Sharma, Dinesh Raina, Sunil Rajput, and Mrs Neha Rajput liaised with key educational institutions, including IIT Jammu, Mata Vaishno Devi University, Central University, and Cluster University.
Meetings were held with directors, vice chancellors, deans, and registrars to plan collaborative programmes.
The campaign team also held a special meeting at the BJP headquarters with Party President Sat Sharma, General Secretary Ashok Kaul, and Vice President Rajiv Charak, securing their support for the campaign’s success.
The campaign concluded with a preparatory meeting and press conference at the Bharat Bharti office, attended by senior citizens, cultural leaders, and active members of the organisation.
National Organiser Jagannath Kunjbihari Swain emphasised that “Bharat Bharti is not just a programme, but a symbol of India’s indomitable national spirit, reflecting its cultural heritage and public harmony.”
The campaign team planned to extend the initiative beyond Jammu & Kashmir to promote patriotism, national unity, and cultural pride across the country.
Mohammad Irfan Ahmed noted that Sardar Patel’s message of unity has strong public acceptance, serving as a cornerstone for building a self-reliant, integrated, and harmonious India.
