Sandeshkhali Women met PM Modi
PM Narendra Modi met five women from Sandeshkhali on Wednesday after he addressed a public gathering. The women claimed that Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates had forced them to visit the Trinamool Congress offices past midnight. PM Minister Modi assured the women of Justice
The five women met with the PM in an improvised VIP room close to the stage following the meeting. With tears in their eyes, they told the PM about their experience and stated that they were instructed to go to the TMC offices after midnight, where they were subjected to sexual harassment. Shahjahan was also identified by them as the primary offender. The women went on to say that they had not felt any relief from Shahjahan’s arrest and that his cronies continued to threaten them.
For twenty minutes, Modi heard their plight and gave them assurances of justice.
“They said that Modiji listened to them like a guardian of the family. They were afraid of the backlash from local TMC leaders after they returned to their villages. Many reached late, and we collected their detailed testimonies. We have already filed a writ petition with the Calcutta HC. These testimonies will be part of that,” said Priyanka Tibrewal, advocate and a Bengal BJP leader.
As this was going on, a few women who had arrived late to the event began to act agitatedly close to the stage, demanding to speak with Modi. They claimed that police had twice stopped their buses, once at Dak Bungalow More in Barasat and once at Biswa Bangla gate in New Town. The Bengal BJP promised to provide the PMO with these women’s testimonies.
