Samrat Choudhary was unanimously elected leader of the BJP legislative party, positioning him to assume office as Bihar’s next Chief Minister. The party decided during a crucial meeting at its state headquarters on Veer Chand Patel Path in Patna.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan oversaw the meeting as the central observer. Senior leaders, including Nitin Nabin, BL Santosh, and Bhikhu Bhai Dalsaniya, attended the deliberations.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha proposed Choudhary’s name, while former Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi supported the motion, ensuring consensus across the party.
Earlier, Nitish Kumar resigned as Chief Minister after chairing his final Cabinet meeting. He formally submitted his resignation to Governor Syed Ata Hasnain at Raj Bhavan, Patna, and recommended the dissolution of the Council of Ministers.
Kumar recently took the oath as a Rajya Sabha member. His departure concluded his extended tenure in state governance and cleared the path for a new administration.
Party leaders confirmed Choudhary’s elevation and initiated preparations for the swearing-in ceremony, with an official announcement expected shortly.
In a post on X, party leadership acknowledged the unanimous backing for Choudhary and expressed confidence in his ability to guide governance forward.
