S Jaishankar To Visit Russia For Key India-Russia Commission Meeting

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar will undertake a two-day official visit to Russia from August 23 to 24. He will co-chair the 27th Session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the visit on Saturday.

Jaishankar will travel to Russia at the invitation of Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.

During the visit, Jaishankar will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The two Ministers will exchange views on regional and global developments.

The visit comes as New Delhi and Moscow continue efforts to broaden cooperation across multiple sectors.

Earlier, the Working Group on Planning of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation met in New Delhi.

Both sides reviewed their joint activity plan for the current year. They outlined measures for 2027 and discussed ways to strengthen interaction between their armed forces.

The Russian Embassy in India shared the update on its official Telegram channel on Friday.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised India’s ‘remarkable success’ in economic, social, scientific and technological fields. He said India was ‘rightfully enjoying high esteem’ globally.

Putin conveyed Independence Day greetings to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi while highlighting fruitful India-Russia cooperation.

In July, Jaishankar met Lavrov in Manila. He reiterated India’s strong concern over the safety of Indian seafarers in the region.

The Ministers discussed bilateral ties, trade and investment, energy, connectivity, science and technology, mobility, the Ukraine conflict and the Gulf situation.
