On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar inaugurated smart classrooms for students in Lachhras village, Narmada district, Gujarat.
Furthermore, this initiative is a part of his ongoing efforts to improve education through technology, fostering a more engaging learning environment for students.
Speaking at the event, Jaishankar highlighted the importance of making classrooms more engaging for the modern generation, stating that in the age of mobile phones, smart classes are a great tool to capture students’ attention.
“In this mobile era, students are more comfortable with smartphones, and smart classes make learning more interesting for them,” Jaishankar said.
His visit to the region reflects the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure in rural areas.
During his visit, Jaishankar also inaugurated a gymnastics hall at the Chhotubhai Purani Sports Campus in Rajpipla.
The sports facility, part of a broader initiative to nurture sporting talent in the region, has been refurbished under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
“I was impressed by the gymnastics facilities here. The specialized equipment and spacious halls will help local students hone their skills,” Jaishankar remarked.
The campus aims to provide an environment conducive to the development of young athletes, especially in sports like gymnastics, where local children are showing great potential.
In addition, Jaishankar also visited the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Narmada district, which has been instrumental in improving passport services for the local population, further enhancing accessibility to essential government services.
Reflecting on the demand for a passport office in the region, Jaishankar mentioned, “When I became a minister six years ago, people requested a passport Kendra. Now, it is running successfully, with around 30-40 appointments every day.”
The availability of such services ensures that citizens can access essential government services locally, marking a positive development.
While visiting the sports campus, Jaishankar emphasized the significance of the Khelo India initiative, which aims to support and nurture sports talent at the grassroots level.
“This sports campus has immense potential. People here have always shown interest in improving sports facilities, and through MPLADS, we have enhanced it,” he added.
Jaishankar believes that the local talent, especially from tribal communities, has great potential, and the government is working to provide the right opportunities for them to excel in sports.
Jaishankar interacted with gymnastics students who showcased their skills on various apparatus such as the balance beam, parallel bars, and rings.
“It is heartening to see young athletes making good use of these facilities. Such opportunities will help the latent talent of our country reach competitive levels,” he said in a post about the sports center.
This initiative by S Jaishankar is part of the broader vision to empower local communities through enhanced education, sports, and public service facilities.
His efforts align with the government’s commitment to building a more inclusive and progressive India.
