Republic Day Parade Showcases India’s Democratic Strength, Pride; Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described the 77th Republic Day parade as a powerful expression of India’s democratic strength and national pride.

He shared glimpses of the celebrations from Kartavya Path and praised the scale, discipline, and symbolism of the event.

India marked Republic Day with an impressive showcase of its evolving combat capability and indigenous defence systems.

The Indian Army presented a ‘Battle Array’ formation, offering a clear visual of battlefield deployment and wartime operational sequencing.

The display highlighted India’s growing self-reliance in defence technology.

Cultural performances and state tableaus added vibrancy to the celebrations. Artists reflected India’s diversity, traditions, and unity through colourful presentations along Kartavya Path.

In a post on X, PM Modi said the parade reflected the strength of Indian democracy, the richness of national heritage, and the unity binding the country together.

In another message, he called the celebrations a ‘powerful display of national pride’.

Strength of the Armed Forces

The Prime Minister said the parade underlined India’s robust security framework.

He noted that the display reflected preparedness, technological advancement, and commitment to protecting citizens.

He added that the event offered a glimpse into the strengthening capabilities of India’s armed forces, calling them a source of national pride.

Republic Day proceedings began with PM Modi paying tribute at the National War Memorial. He laid a wreath to honour soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

During the ceremony, the Inter-Services Guards observed the traditions of ‘Salami Shastra’ and ‘Shok Shastra’ as a mark of respect.

After the parade, PM Modi once again broke protocol, continuing a tradition he has followed since 2015.

He walked along Kartavya Path to greet spectators seated in the enclosures. Crowds responded with applause, cheers, and patriotic slogans.

People waved tricolours and chanted ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ as the Prime Minister passed by.

Children stood on chairs to catch a glimpse of him. As he moved ahead, attendees shouted ‘Modi-Modi’ in excitement.

PM Modi wore a red tie-and-dye turban adorned with golden peacock feather motifs, maintaining his tradition of distinctive headgear on Republic Day.

He also crossed to the opposite side of Kartavya Path to greet more spectators, who captured the moment on their phones.

The celebrations reinforced Republic Day as a symbol of unity, strength, and democratic resolve.
