Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), one of India’s largest industrial conglomerates, recently celebrated the remarkable achievement of its Jamnagar Refinery completing 25 years. The milestone was marked by an event where Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, alongside his wife Nita Ambani, addressed Reliance employees and their families.
During the celebration, Mukesh Ambani reflected on the extraordinary accomplishments of the Jamnagar Refinery. He described the refinery as a “marvel of engineering” and lauded its contributions to both the company and the country. The refinery, which has evolved over the years, has played a pivotal role in India’s energy landscape, helping the country achieve self-sufficiency in fuel production.
Nita Ambani, in her address, took a moment to honor her late father-in-law, Dhirubhai Ambani, whose vision and inspiration were instrumental in the foundation and growth of Reliance. She credited him as the driving force behind the company’s success and described the journey of the Jamnagar Refinery as a symbol of the unity and hard work of the Reliance family.
To mark the occasion, RIL shared several images of the refinery on its social media platforms on December 29. The statement accompanying the pictures celebrated the refinery’s completion of 25 years, calling it “an extraordinary achievement of innovation, scale, and impact.” The company highlighted the various factors contributing to the success of this engineering marvel.
Reliance began operations at its first refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat, on December 28, 1999. This refinery played a transformative role in India’s energy sector by turning the country from a fuel-deficient nation into a self-sufficient one. Over the years, it expanded to become a major exporter of gasoline and gasoil, supplying to markets in Europe and America.
The Jamnagar Refinery’s success story is a testament to Reliance’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and making a lasting impact on both the industry and the nation.
